March 1, 2018

Dear BES Families,

In the words of Emily Dickinson, “Dear March, come in! How glad I am - I hoped for you before! Put down your hat, you must have walked - how out of breath you are!” As March begins, there is a sense of excitement in the air as spring quickly approaches. I think we are all ready for warmer weather.

We have a busy, exciting month ahead of us, and we won’t waste any time getting started. It’s time to dust off your dancing shoes because this Friday, March 2nd, the annual PTO Mother & Son Dance will be held in the BES gym, from 6-8pm. Our next School Readiness Council meeting is at 4:30pm on Wednesday, March 7th, in the BES library, and our PTO meeting will be on Thursday, March 8th, at 7pm in the BES PTO room. Please note that Friday, March 9th will be a full day of school for students.

On March 16th, our kindergarten classes will be visited by the Southwick Animal Farm Zoomobile. For those interested in attending, the next Northeast Early Childhood Council meeting will be held at the Plainfield Family Resource Center, at 5:30pm. We are excited to bring back our Storyteller program to BES this year. Thank you to Mrs. Schwab and our PTO for making this possible. Grade 2 will work with the storytellers on Tuesday, March 20th, and grade 1 classes are scheduled for Friday, March 23rd.

Looking ahead to the end of the month, there will be a BOE meeting on Wednesday, March 28th, at 7pm.  We will dismiss school early on Thursday, March 29th for parent-teacher conferences. There will be no PM prekindergarten and school will release at 12:45pm that day.  Please watch your email/School Messenger notifications in the next few weeks for the conference sign-up link. Finally, please note there will be no school on Friday, March 30th, in observance of Good Friday.

Our BES Kindness Campaign is in full swing. We enjoy watching our students learn to become good citizens and role models within our school community. As always, we thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education. Working together, we truly make a difference. Have a wonderful March!
